Chelys Consort of Viols have garnered a reputation for their faithful yet fresh interpretations of the consort repertoire. The members are among the UK's leading exponents of the viol, particularly as a consort instrument. Chelys perform in the UK and internationally, have broadcast live on BBC Radio 3, and in 2019 made their Wigmore Hall debut alongside Dame Emma Kirkby at her 70th birthday concert. Their recordings of works by Dowland with Dame Emma and of Christopher Simpson have received considerable critical acclaim, BBC Music Magazine praising their 'light as gossamer' sound, and Gramophone declaring theirs to be 'the most beautiful recording of the Lachrimae'. www.chelysconsort.co.uk

Chelys have been delighted to frequently work with two of them before, and are looking forward to the kind of particularly fruitful results that come from working with friends as well as outstanding colleagues on a shared collaboration. Emily Atkinson (soprano), David Gould (countertenor), Steven Harrold (tenor) and Robert Rice (baritone) can be found all over the globe with ensembles including the Tallis Scholars, The Cardinall's Musick and Alamire, and as both consort singers and soloists on many recordings.
